Testimonials

  • Emma F., Bozeman High School '27

I met monthly with Jim during spring semester of my freshman year in high school, and I feel so much better and more confident about my college options than I did at the start of high school. Jim helped me with my daily habits including sleep and nutrition, and he gave me suggestions for colleges my family and I should visit over the summer. I can’t wait to work with him again in my sophomore year!

  • Danielle P., Gustavus Adolphus College '27

I have been meeting up with Jim at a coffee shop in Bozeman every other week since last July, and I can honestly say I greatly look forward to our meetings and will be very sad when the time comes for our final session. Jim has supported me through every step of my college applications, starting with building my college list, through writing my personal statement and supplementals, and celebrating with me when I've gotten accepted (at every school I applied to except one!). He has given me so much positive encouragement when I was feeling down, and he assured me that the colleges I was applying to would be the right ones for me. He has been quick to respond to all my questions, and he never fails to offer great advice. Today my parents and I are sending in my deposit to Gustavus Adolphus College, where I plan to study psychology. Before I do that, I wanted to take this moment to thank Jim, and say publicly how much I appreciate all he's done for me. He is really the best!

  • Hannah E., Bard College ‘22

“When I first started my college search, I knew I was interested in pursuing electronics engineering, but I didn’t really want to attend a state university or live in a big city. Jim told me about the 3-2 engineering program at Bard, and my parents and I visited the school in the summer after my junior year. I fell in love with the campus and the admissions staff, and I ended up making Bard my first choice. I’ve now completed my graduation requirements at Bard, and in the fall I’m enrolling at Columbia University to earn my master’s with a specialization in data-driven analysis and computation. I want to thank Jim for taking the time to get to know me, and helping me find exactly the right school for me!”

“My youngest daughter signed up for Jim’s comprehensive package so that she would have expert guidance in choosing, applying to, and seeking scholarships for college. My daughter looked forward to her weekly meetings with Jim that not only accomplished the goal of getting her into a good college, but also with significant scholarship. On top of this, she felt empowered by Jim to experience herself more and more as someone with value who will contribute meaningfully to a college or university. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Through working with Jim, my daughter is not only going to the college of her dreams, but I also have the financial assistance to send her. On top of this, she is more excited and ready for this adventure than I could have imagined. I know without a doubt I could not have achieved this magnitude of success without Jim’s help. I am thrilled with all that Jim provided through his sincere, respectful, careful, attentive listening to our family’s needs. He was available and engaging, stayed on top of the deadlines, and balanced structure and guidance with support of my daughter in her choices and her responsibility to her choices. For me, he provided abundant resources and ideas for creative solutions that were direct responses to my concerns about finances. Hiring Jim this year was one of the best investments I could have made in my daughter and her future. Thank you, Jim!”

“I’ve never thought of myself as a good writer, so I was scared when it came time to write my Common App essay. I was worried about being judged by college admissions people who would only know me through a 650-word essay. Jim helped me brainstorm different essay topics, and I decided that the summer I spent with my grandparents in Kosovo was a story I wanted to tell. Jim read at least five drafts of my essay and offered advice until it felt polished. I learned more from writing that essay than I did from four years of writing five-paragraph essays in high school. No joke. I ended up repurposing a longer version of that original essay to win an internship with the State Department.”

  • Sophia D., University of Pennsylvania '27

Jim was able to help me through a complicated situation with my financial aid. The university I’ll be attending doesn’t offer merit-based scholarships, so Jim helped me and my parents write a letter to the financial aid office explaining why our situation warranted an appeal. In the end the college came through with a much better offer, which I owe completely to Jim’s knowledge and experience in helping us strategize. Jim’s fee was a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the money we’ve been able to save, and I am so grateful. I’m excited to start my college degree in the fall!

  • Urias G., Drake University '27

Jim was very helpful throughout my college application process, but especially when my acceptance letters started coming in. The financial aid offers were full of jargon that made no sense to either me or my parents. Lucky for us, Jim was right there to guide us through everything and give me the information I needed to make my final decision about where to attend. I settled on Drake University, which gave me an amazing merit-based scholarship that I know I would never have gotten without Jim’s help. Thanks, Jim!

  • Emily Y., Hamilton College ‘20

“I signed up for Jim’s comprehensive package for my senior year, and my parents and I agree it’s the smartest investment we could have made. Because of my family’s income, I never thought I’d be eligible for any scholarships. But Jim helped me find sources of financial support I’d never have found on my own. Thanks to Jim, I completed my degree in physics without a penny of student loan debt!”

  • Mike B., father of Hannah B., University of Nevada '24

We’ve worked with Jim and it was immensely helpful. I recommend him to anyone who’s scratching their heads about this whole college admissions mystery.

We used Jim at Confluence College Admissions Consulting and we were very pleased with the entire process. We were initially looking for help with college essays as we knew that would be a challenge. Jim offered solid directions and worked with our son to make the essays his own. Jim also provided terrific guidance throughout the process of narrowing down exactly what our son wanted in a college to focus on a short list of realistic possibilities. He offered up good suggestions of other schools to consider that were not initially on his list. In the end, my son is attending a school he is very happy to be attending in the fall. Total win-win in our view.
